My reasons for becoming an entrepreneur are not going to be the same as your reasons for becoming an entrepreneur. Since being the boss is a lot of responsibility, becoming an entrepreneur for your own reasons is the right way to go. While this is not an all inclusive list as to why people become the boss, it should start you thinking why you want to be your own boss.

What are the characteristics of an entrepreneur? For some reason when people think of the word entrepreneur, it seems almost untouchable, like a mystical unicorn. But let's call the first step what the first step is: a home based entrepreneur. Sounds a little more cozy, not as much pressure. And, that is where all the greats started, whether a garage or basement.

Business is about competition. We drill this idea into the minds of students to an extent that competitiveness becomes a prism to interpret all aspects of a company. Stock prices, EPS, market caps, evaluation of its financial statements, its policies and obligations towards labor, its expense and production ratios, its marketing strategy, or even the way that it invests in philanthropy.

We all have those moments at our jobs where we think or say "If I was the boss, I would...." And that is one of the largest perks to being your own boss. We all want to be in control of our destinies and working for someone else means giving up that control. Instead of listening to the fear that will keep you in a job and letting others tell you what to do, go out and become your own boss.

People are always talking themselves up because they are insecure. They spend most of their lives borrowing money so they can show other people what they have. They talk about profits when they mean turnover. They talk about how their house has gone up in value and that they're worth many thousands of pounds,

The natural response here is "who doesn't?" I mean really, there are probably 1001 things to hate about your job: your boss, your coworkers, the pay, the commute, the location, what you do, you feel you sold out, and on and on. When we hate our jobs we focus on those negative things and tell others about them too, and no one wants to hear about your crappy job, they have one too.
